>>3096554>This was a horrific clusterfuck of a sensles ending. Rustal was a good guy all along! The entire Tekkadan...People have been saying Rustal and Team Meat are the good guys and would win for a while. Rustal isn't a good person, but he's pragmatic and knew the system was flawed and failing, and needed change. But he wasn't an idealist, and nor was he ethical nor moral. But he was likely one of the most realistic characters in the show. Think of all the politicians/world leaders in history that smile at the cameras and sign off on good legislature, then order executions and horrible shit behind closed doors. Like secretly ordering kinetic strikes on child soldiers he can't fight.
As for Tekkadan/McGillis, well... Their struggles and deaths served a purpose - as catalysts/agents and then scapegoats, they allowed for change to occur. Just not in the way they'd hoped for/wanted. IMO It was a bit of a tragic shaggy dog story (so much of what's in IBO is). And to be fair, a shit ton of them lived and went on to live happier lives - the one Orga promised them.
Ever since he became a cripple Mika was confirmed for death (his kid seems like a cute lil' autistic murder midget in the making). Akihiro hit me harder. Poor Guts Jr. had the shittiest life possible. But he killed Iok, so wurf I guess? (I loved how the both of them died "happy" at least).
All that said, I wasn't a huge fan of S2. I would of preferred a focus on MA's/The Calamity War, and sides teaming up/reforming via that type of stuff. I guess the MA's were still just another forgotten but important footnote in history, just like Tekkadan was at the end.
As for everyone screeching about how ShinoYama didn't get more stuff at the end... Look, I completely understand why you're mad. But the series had a really messy and condensed ending in general. They weren't going to put extra time into the romance between two side characters that never really started. It sucks, but it's reasonable.
