There wouldn't be attractions at Universal Studios and advertisements and CMs cluttering Japan.
The fanbase of the 90s are much older, they have families and children, most of them probably don't care much for Eva and Anime anymore.
Rebuild introduced Eva to the next generation, and now there is a much more modern fanbase attached to it, a fanbase with different desires and interests in Anime.
And this also reflects in Kawoshin. Their dynamic in Q is more shallow, as are arguably the art and doujinshi. So are the fans, as a lot of them have moved on to other Anime by now.
It's both a good and bad thing.
