Firstly, other stuff I've reviewed so you get a bit of glimpse into my taste:

Too Like the Lightning - political scifi, dystopian/utopian, philosophical ? 10/10 for plot
This book and its sequel (Seven Surrenders) are excellent, excellent /cm/ material, canon gay material and some amazing plot material, but it takes about 200 pages to properly kick into gear and describing it is spoiler material.
Some things happen if you are squeamish, it's listed under the 'Gordian Exposure Commission Content Ratings' in the opening of the book.
Bridger is a very sweet boy and I became a massive Mycroftfag over the course of this book and the next. Sorry for people who don't like Mycroft, edging into spoiler territory though. Mycroft is best boy of the year for me, currently (including everything, anime, television, books, etc).

Cyteen/Regenesis - political scifi, cloning, utopian/dystopian ? 7/10 for plot
The secondary major character (Justin) is canon gay and remains so for both books however the main character is female and very prominently so. The dialogue in the first book can make the plot seem less grounded. I felt that this was two books with lots of good material but not great and often drowned in how gradually everything happened.
Giraud Nye is best boy of this book.

Ninefox Gambit - hard scifi, space opera (think Star Wars especially Thrawn-like stuff, LOGH etc) ? 10/10 for plot
MC is female which kind of ruins it. I'm not sure how gay the sequels are going to be because of SPOILERS but the author loves Captive Prince and writes Captive Prince fanfiction and it definitely shows in the latter 1/4 and that one fucked up scene in the second book (google preview). But I am very reluctant to recommend this book because of SPOILERS. This series has already inspired fanfic: Machineries of Empire Series - Yoon Ha Lee.
