>>3068047>>3068514I don't think starting the project again is a bad ideal. I agree Eva without Shinji is hard to accept. Yet telling the same story again and again without adding new elements will also not work. ( not for me)
Several weeks ago, I started watching ROE 1.11 and 2.22 ( I dare not to see 3.33 yet, fearing that I would hurt my feelings in a way). My biggest problem is, I think there are too much "service" ( Seriously, Will you dress like that while cooking?) and I think the plot is a bit chaotic caz they try to jam everything in the series.
Asuka, she looks so charming but basically I cannot recognize her. Rei, I don't know why she suddenly fell for Shinji. I honestly don't remember everything detail but is it a soap opera romance thing? And Mari, I like the character but really hope I can see her personality more (maybe I will, in 3.33?)
Then Kaworu, why are you in the poster? he's only there for 1 min? Are you here to show your glamour ( again, maybe it is all in 3.33?)
My second problem is, I don't think these children's need for instrumentality at all, I don't see their agony and struggles as I used to see in NGE, which attracts me most.
I didn't like Asuka in NGE but I saw and I can feel her story and pain; the current Asuka, in ROE, I even don't know if I like her. The post apocalyptic atmosphere, the never ending summer, the link between Shinji and Yui and the desperate journey down to the heart...are all gone.
I do love Shinji and Kaworu a lot and I hope they can have a better ending. But apart from that, it is all about the story itself.
Of course you can rewrite the same story again or create brand new story and characters with Eva's world. But I don't think for now(1.11/2.22) they are going deep enough. EoE delivers a message to the society, though through a creepy way. ROE, however, it didn't strike a cord with me. I can say ROE is good but it's not a thing I will remember by my heart, at least not Now.
