TF2chan used to be really top quality, but the admins and mod team (are/were?) a really egotistical circlejerk, had a bunch of silly rules like being staunchly anti-furry that they enforced in a really blunt heavy handed manner, and used to haze and scare off new posters in an attempt to keep the site like-minded within their interests. People didn't really like their attitudes but they put up with it because the user community was a good enough counterbalance and you could ignore the mods as long as you followed da rules. Until one fateful day when a notable popular artist got banned under the no-furry rule for drawing crocosniper (when tentaspy runs wild and free). Their friends posted calling out the ban decision as being bullshit, more bans went out, more butthurt, the mod team put loud music and a rapidly flashing background on the whole site to annoy the critical posters, it stayed up for nearly 24 hours or something ridiculous, people who weren't in the loop casually visited the site and one or two had problems with epilepsy, posters informed the mod team of the issue, mods said WE DON'T CARE!!! FUCK ALL OF YOU BABY WHINERS GO AWAY IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, and then 99% of the sensible people who would write/draw/generally contribute to the community picked up their shit and left. The aftermath was hilarious when the mods realised all they had was a ghost town of 12 year old yaoi weebs and a handful of lurkers, they went and begged the banned drawfag to come back and bring all their friends, but everybody had already migrated to tumblr and the chan never really recovered.
I'm actually shocked to hear that it's still up and hosted and people know it exists, they used to have donation drives every year for a couple hundred bucks to keep the servers running, I can't imagine they met the goals after that mass exodus.
