>>3006691Not them but I guess opinions differ. I personally hate western style period. The stylised stuff especially comic book art and cartoons is irredeemable in my eyes, although the realism/semi realism illustration stuff looks much better. Noodle people, exaggerated shapes, bones like rubber and faces are far too frequent find and look vastly outdated. CG western cartoons look even worse with textures like rubber.
Anime style art stuff is much more aesthetic and uniform. Drawings tend to be more slender, lineart is simple and more efficient with minimal shading. Drawings also tend to look more dynamic in pose, especially when compared to comics where most panels look like poor tracings and insist on being coloured and with photoshop's gradient fill. Western comics also insists on covering most of the face and body in shadow and highlights and turn the image into what resembles the shading of a balloon.
Western art also tends to focus excessively on the nose which is the easiest way to sabotage the entire face (especially in the case of the 'tumblr nose' where the nose appears to be excessively polished and shaded.)
This is not to say that all western art is shit and all eastern art is good (I personally hate the star wars manga style and CLAMP is awful/styles with heavily lined eyes and a glossy blur look atrociously outdated) but I have seen far fewer eastern artistic monstrosities than western ones. Not to mention the fact that Pixiv seems to contain more artistic talent than deviantart and tumblr put together.
