I've always felt Genshiken is ultimately a very hopeful manga, that things turn out much better than you think they do. Since the beginning its always been about going out of your comfort zone and getting to be the real you, without the self-loathing and worry of rejection.
Even Yajima, who has to deal with Hato rejecting her crush on him, is in a much better place right now than she was at the start of the manga.
