The reasonable idiot
A serious-minded, reasonable otaku. His dream of becoming an idol’s manager comes true when Totoko debuts in episode 4. As the straight man, the number of times he speaks takes the overwhelming lead among the six brothers.
Matsubara: Although he is established as the single reasonable person of the group, there is a “?” attached to it. When I was speaking with Director Fujita, he said, “In the end, this guy doesn’t have a job either, so there’s something about him.” What was born from that was the establishment that he turn completely useless when interacting with girls. Then, when Choromatsu acts like he’s the most sensible one, you get to laugh and say “You’re one to talk, you know.” But when I’m writing the screenplay, he is an important character who takes my side. While everyone else is doing their own crazy thing, he brings the main subject at hand back on topic.
