Ok I was watching through fullmetal alchemist again when it got to an episode with a character named Mr. Garfield... who is a massive stereotypical faggot.

I'm gay but I don't fit the stereotype but it seems like everytime a gay male is seen in anime they're characters like that. (FMA was given an award for it's outstanding character design based on how many different characters there were but they all stood out from one another but even they couldn't portray a real gay dude)

So, tl;dr, are there ANY animes that has gay characters that are not stereotypes? Their sexuality doesn't even need to play a part in the plot of the show but I'm just curious if the Japanese are aware gay guys for the most part are like any other guy with the only difference being they have sex with guys. I'm beginning to doubt it.
