About the set-up, though, it's actually a Super Robot Wars UX comic (which is why you see Tieria and Lockon in there briefly). In UX, the Fafner and SEED/Destiny casts are welded together. Their storyline takes place after Destiny but just at the start of Fafner. Tatsumiya is part of ORB, and Shinn and Luna are assigned to Tatsumiya to protect the Fafner development. (Shinn gets Destiny fucking wrecked against a Festum in the opening chapter before Mk. Elf can come online, and has to use Impulse for the majority of the game.

idk if anyone else was watching Fafner and Destiny at the same time ten years ago, but episode 26 of Fafner where Kazuki's eyes go gradient-red because assimilation and episode 13 of Destiny where Shinn's eyes go gradient-red because SEED mode aired at about the same time. It was amusing.
