>rivalOh, I wasn't going for the LoveTriangle angle. Doubt Jan'd actually try to woo her. It's just a detail to flesh out his character.
It'd go like this:
(may have shared this on a previous thread...or is that just my imagination?)
Jan starts work at the sushi stall. From afar in his station, he spies this sorta pretty girl. They nearly make eye contact, but before she can see him, a cruel, screechy voice calls her away. Her face replays on his mind for a minute, til a customer's order breaks him out of his thoughts.
On break a few days later, he sees that same girl struggling as she carries a couple pretty heavy-looking crates.
Jiro-ina's got good muscle power, especially for a girl, but the weight of the boxes and the glare of the midday sun is torture. She hears an odd, shaky voice ask her something in a tongue that sounds vaguely like Japanese and looks up to see this smiling red-haired, green-eyed gaijin boi. He's the exact level of cute+friendly that short-circuits her brain (same as canon Jiro with girls).
She wonders if she's hallucinating ("did I see him in a movie? the news?"). The strain of the boxes, the heat of the sun, and the panic attack brought about by the dude (he won't stop talking, whats he even saying) make her fall faint, but not before throwing up on the guy's shirt, dropping the boxes on his foot, and banging her head on the concrete floor.
Jan drops to the ground, shouting in pain, nursing his foot. Upon noticing that a girl's just dropped dead right in front of him, he yells for help. Mura hears him, drives to his aid on his minitruck, but not seeing Jiro-ina, promptly runs her over, AGAIN (seeSakana#151).
Now, Jan's SURE she's dead. Shigeru runs outta the stall, not believing his eyes. Mura goes "not my fault!", pulling Jiro on the minitruck, telling Shiggy he'll get her help, while Shiggy should care for the boy, which he does, bridal carrying him back to the stall
