It's implied that he tries to rape Mayumi and Saki, so I'm obviously not claiming he's a nice guy, but they die only after being pushed into the TV. He also pukes after seeing Mayumi’s corpse - which could be him pulling the goofball act or shitting bricks that they might lift his prints off her or something, but it might also mean that he’s unable to deal with death when it’s right in front of him.
And, of course, after that, he lets Namatame do the dirty work of kidnapping and tossing everybody else into the TV. He knows full well that they’d probably die, but it’s all from afar.

Adachi fujos get shit for that because people immediately assume it’s an uwu so misunderstood sadboi, let me fix him kind of thing. The fanworks I’ve read (including the one you mentioned) all portray MC as trying to “save” Adachi for his own selfish purposes, or take place before everyone realizes Adachi is the killer. At any rate, it's not a flattering light.
