Humanz as an album is meh but I really like Phase 4 as a whole, even if they didn't have as much of a budget or media presence as the first two phases. At least Russel actually got a decent role in the phase and had his own podcast.

I think I've read that Damon takes less direction from producers now and mostly just produces the albums himself, which is kind of a shame. Gorillaz benefited a lot from Dan the Automator and especially Danger Mouse. Plastic Beach was great, especially for it's theming, but Humanz felt unfocused and bloated. A different producer might have helped that.

Also, I don't see Murdoc as a cutter. He has much more subtle ways of self-harm. Like self-sabotage and substance abuse.

I doubt they would have really ended it there and killed the characters for good. Maybe there would have been a way to stop the end of the world, or maybe they would have carried on like nothing happened, as cartoons do. If it really was supposed to be the end of the whole project, then I guess I'm glad it didn't happen. Although, it still seems like a shame that the vision went unrealized.

yep, Humanz was really unfocused. the first few songs were good but as it went on it was just a mess. i feel like despite the nonsensical lyrics Sex Murder Party could've work if it were produced by someone like SOPHIE. the production wasn't crazy enough to warrant that title. Danny Brown was HORRIBLY misplaced, what was Damon thinking to place him in a slow song?? i tried to like the album but i ended up being really frustrated throughout it due to bad decision like that. not to mention that Humanz barely has any theme instrumentally or narrative-wise unlike other albums including TNN. Damon said it's something along the lines of "party at the end of the world" but i dont really get that vibes outside of Ascension, Momentz, Strobelite, and Let Me Out. it was really dull.

also i dont think Murdoc is a cutter either but it's still a really good art imo

I'll be honest, I always skip out of Submission before it gets to his part. Def one of my least favorites, along with Carnival. There's a lot on the album that I really do like, but a lot of it just sounds like a mess too. The interludes also feel a little pretentious to me, and they bloat the tracklist.

Maybe I would have liked Humanz better if I listened to the non-deluxe version first. I never listen to most of those tracks anyways.

Shame on tumblr for bullying a good fanartist out of the fandom. The last thing such a small fan community needs is to tear itself apart. For that reason I try not to be too judgemental of 2nu and nudoc shippers. Even if I don't like the pairings there's no need to throw stones. Everyone is allowed to enjoy things, even if you don't enjoy them yourself. Shinji/Asuka is terrible, though.

I compiled all of the fanart I've found by kore on tumblr and in old threads in this gallery. There's several that I would describe as nsfw, but only one that is clearly explicit. Please tell me that both of the images you remember are here, because it will break my heart to know there are good Gorillaz lewds that I don't have. I am so happy I got into this fandom and went on a fanart quest before the great porn purge, but you know everything else is gone forever now. I swear to god, I am this close to making a booru specifically for fanart of western franchises. There needs to be an archive.
