Eh, it's kinda painful, but it's short so you can give it a try. The webcomic was cute though. But imo the fandom thrived because of massive history nerds who wrote the most well researched fics you've seen in your life... That was unironically impressive.

Slight rant but it irks me so much whenever I see the younger generation bash on Hetalia bc “omg shipping countries is so problematic wtf is wrong with you go kys” and “you’re genuinely fucked in the head if you supported this country x country” LIKE YALLS ITS FICTION ITS FOR FUN. Sure there were some bad apples in the fandom but most of the fandom didn’t let that define them. The fact that they’re such pearl clutching purists bc we shipped FICTIONAL PERSONIFICATIONS of countries is literally so annoying. If they think that’s bad, they should see just how much more problematic yaoi and het was back in the 2000s when most of them were born.
