Some are hoping the shitshow this year was happening due to the anniversary of the party. They haven't outright banned BL for good and when the restrictions become looser they never announce it (isekai and past lives are slowly crawling back the screens despite being banned).
So they may delay it as much as possible or add some scenes only in japanese edition. Although the latter would piss off the mainland fans and mxtx's fans and anti fans are already batshit insane.
Also, lie huo is currently airing so it's not like BL adaptations seeing the light of the day is completely impossible.

BL actually has not that many rape scenarios nowadays, is just that people still have this weird fear about talking of enjoying sex so you will see works with those set ups being very popular with people that are only starting consuming this kind of media (especially if they come from very conservative societies).
Also, rape in general is always a very popular topic in media when portraying sex, just look at any literature work written by a recognized male author. You could say that BL is just continuing the tradition you see in mainstream works.
That being said, BL and other media created for a feminine audience has way more diversity when showcasing sex in my opinion.

I would say there are lots and lots of dub-con situations. Aside from violent rape and character smiling but moaning ??~ while gripping onto the partner, there are lots of cases where the character looks half-suffering half-in pleasure and it's hard to tell how much of it is unspoken consent and holding back and how much is actually forced.

I don't think it's recent at all? Gore and cannibalism has been around for a long while (just look at rg veda). What you are talking about sounds like what was popular around uh 6-7 years ago if I am not mistaken.
Personally, I like both but after many years of consuming mostly cute stuff in BL I find interesting the theme exploration of darker stuff in romantic settings. Don't think it's wrong or anything worth getting all "how could you like something so gross!" when it's fiction.
That being said, I really like gore and it's been very pleasant to see dark stuff like that getting recommended instead of the usual "I am going to put rape in this to make it dark" works that feel lazy after some time. Had been searching for a long time for something in a similar vibe to MADK so I will happily give some of the stuff here a look.

There is something about the way omegaverse utilizes this trope that makes it feel less special. Usually they're fated through marking and pheromones not specific to the two characters, just to their secondary sex, and it only becomes special once they're mated/bitten or some shit. Either way it kind of cheapens their connection because it always comes down to the biology imperatives controlling their brains that make them 'fated', rather than their feelings. Well sure, but you can have a more interesting conflicts of characters personality, experiences, situation etc that lead to those decisions being hard if you don't write it all off by pushing 'nothing beats the attraction between alphas and omegas'. There are omegaverse that include a more interesting spin on that, but a lot don't, they make a couple and then smush them together like two dolls with them being alpha/omega as glue.
Pure porn omegaverse is actually better because it can't have poor romance plot if it has no plot, and there the claiming is often just a kink and not a plot device for magical marriage. I'm going mostly off disappointing/wasted potential manga.

I disliked those movies for many reasons but Seattle looked so good in them. It was like the 50 shades author (through the characters) was checking off an itemized checklist at a grocery store and when it was executed, it felt bland. I recall this very hard BL live action movie that went the other way, where it was hardcore kidnapping and rape without consent etc.
Checklists can be hot but there’s this line for me where it just reminds me of school, insane rule books for work and so on. Images like those explaining the omega verse and domsub things break the fantasy. Just my personal opinion though, not too much shade on anyone who likes it (hence the “sick” kink comment heh).

I feel that in Harada’s works is one sided most of the time, in some until one of them snaps and starts ruining the other’s life. I was very excited by Hikizure Oto and it left me a bit disappointed at the end because of the very same thing. I want them both to be schizos from the beginning but functional on their own and the more time they spent together the worse they get.
There was this BL about a couple that started being high school sweethearts and normal but then after they started fucking they got more and more possessive of each other, to the point that when they were already in college/working one of them would purposely hang out with other friends to get the other jealous and obsessive without caring to conceal it to his boyfriend when he got home. Wish I remembered the name of it.

Haven't read anything in the last 3 months and now I have a million things to catch up on, it's so discouraging. BL is kinda stressful, if you don't regularly devote part of your free time to it you completely lose track of everything.

Usual OP here to say, anyone can make the thread. It's is just copy+paste with occasional additions to the rec list and a cover image from either the thread or one of the various BL mags. I'm happy to keep making them, but I hope someone else will take over if something happens to me. So far, another anon has done it every time I haven't been able to, which makes me hopeful.
