To answer anon's question, the requests I draw for free are things that I personally enjoy, pique my interest, or simply want to see done. You can try requesting stuff, chances are if I like the characters/subject or general idea, I'll get to it when I have time. I haven't really done many commissions, but if you want to guarantee a request then commissions provide me the incentive I need to draw it.
tl;dr: If I like the request, chances are I'll draw it on my spare time. If not, commissions are guaranteed fills regardless of whether I like the subject or not.
