I'd argue that you do in fact prefer VNs. Here you are talking about games in terms of "scenes" or what some retards would call "visual novel segments".
And here you say the only good VNs have Dating Simulations; which would make it a video game and not a visual novel at all.
You're not respecting the medium itself, but instead focusing on your personal engagement with it. Which is purely visual.
VN and VG creators are responsible for the visuals. But you bring yourself, and your relationship to the images are your own. You are a subjective viewer and therefore outside it's objective taxonomy.
