I utterly hate the fact that her stories are always somehow fucked up and how abuse and bullying are never treated by the characters as serious enough to warrant police or therapy. I hate that her characters are always somewhere on the spectrum of the piece of shit human, and how maybe only one of them has any idea of what loving and cherishing someone means. But gooddamnit she does write consistent assholes. Bastards true and true, flawed and unreedeemable, with no romanticising of their shortcomings. Her stories are always concise and convincing. She makes me feel, and keeps me glued to the page.
So yeah, i always read her new works, and generally hold them in high esteem, but they make me feel anger and disgust most of the time.
