Thi, I think the ship is based on their personality. Look at wolf for example, a common view people have on him is that he's obedient and doesn't talk much. Neither does he really question orders.
he was basically raised all his life as a weapon and a servant. To obey orders and listen to other people. A more submissive role. He rarely has his own opinions on things and his whole motive in life is his royalty to someone else and not a personal goal.
Now take Genichiro on the other hard. He's almost a fucking prince, rised with pride and a lot of expectations. Everyone respects and fears him which filled his ego. Pretty intimidating and borderline scary.
