I hate when Mentaiko use shading style like this one.
His black/white and cell-shading colored works are absolytely flaveless. But pillow-shading makes his characters to look kinda plastic

That's not a shading issue then. It's just a stylistic decision you don't like. The shading itself is fine, it's a color choice.
