>>2700606Spiderman swung in through the ventilation shaft. He knew Mysterio was holed up inside along with the stolen hard drives. He'd make it short and sweet: some webbing, a few kicks, in and out in time for catching up with MJ at the movies.
The vent was easy to open. Too easy. A familiar feeling crept over him. Spider sense. He squinted into the dim, backing up into the vent slightly. A jolt went through him: the vent was electrified. He tumbled forward landing on the ground with a thud that knocked the wind out of him.
Soft mists swirled. He tried to hold back, but his body needed air. Spiderman breathed in deeply. The room began to spin.
He woke up in a dark room. A movie flickered before him on the screen, but that wasn't what had his attention. His head was on MJ's shoulder.
"You have no idea how much I've wanted to do this", she said, wrapping her arm around his waist.
He smiled, "I've missed you, too. You mean the world to me. I'm sorry I fell asleep."
She touched under his chin gently, her eyes soft and warm. "It's OK. You had a long day. What matters is we're here now, just the two of us. I'd do anything to be near to you."
He felt the blood rush to his face as well as a few other parts. "I'm... I'm glad. You give me the strength to make it through. Thank you for always being there for me."
Her hand moved from his chin to his hair, stroking it softly. "And I always will..."
Mysterio sat in the nearly empty store room. Parker took the bait and the trap worked beautifully. He had long admired the young man whose head rested on his chest. He was sure it was a beautiful dream the boy was having. His distant smile and garbled, loving words warmed Mysterio in ways he couldn't describe.
When the gas wore off the room would be empty. The hard drive wasn't even there; it was another illusion. Parker would dream, and so would he. For a little while, at least.
