TF fetish is actually a number of different fetishes together. The first is the sense of change, improving one's self. Another aspect is the TF into particular characters such as from a movie or VG. More a focus on being that character or assuming their characteristics (Heroic, Courage, Strength, etc.). Another aspect is Control. Having control over themselves or control over others. Another is the common fetish that others find weird, you can focus on TF involving feet for those who enjoy that, or TF into (or out of) Furry for those individuals. There are also other aspects such as the method of causing the TF that excites others, is it a potion or is it magic? Is it an item like a dog collar, or a solution like falling into concrete? The biggest aspect of it is that TF in general is change, and that can include many other fetish easily allowing for many more people to be involved.
Personally, I think I enjoy petrification due to playing VGs so much as a kid. I found out early that certain statuses allowed me to win easily, such as petrifying the enemy, and I grew to enjoy the ease in defeating my opponents. This would be more of the control variant as I wouldnt so much enjoy a person who is stoned, but rather enjoy the control over them which would require a method to restore them.
