They act closer and friendlier to each other, both have a less unrealistic personality, the clumsy Fantasio saved by Spirou makes a good ship dynamic. The age gap is way lower making it less forced. At some points in the comics/animated series they even appear to live together in a house. And anyway this is my childhood.
