>>2542209Honestly it's not that antis don't understand it. It's not even the point at all.
The point is that this is a ship war where a bunch of people decided the only way to absolutely hold their ground beyond the shadow of a doubt was to go nuclear. You couldn't just say "I like my ship better". The other ship had to be the most morally objectionable thing imaginable.
And the goalpost keeps shifting.
First, "they're brothers."
"No, they're not," says everyone, including the staff.
Then "Well, they're LIKE brothers. If someone is LIKE a brother, that's still incest."
"No, it's not."
"But the age gap!"
"They're adults at the time of shipping. Plus, thanks to the show, the age gap is gone."
"If you like it you support power imbalances so that means you're okay with ABUSE, INCEST, PEDOPHILIA"
Because the point isn't that they really believe these things - or if they do, they do it in a fanatic, unquestioning way, rather than because they put it through serious thought, at which point their logic crumbles.
The point is that they NEED to shut you down with fire, and on this particular war, the nukes have been flavored with a heaping serving of social justice jargon to make it sound better for anyone left of the political spectrum to respond to it.
But it's all a performance act.
At the core of it, it's "I like my ship better and I don't want yours to win." Which, you know, belies a problem of being immature and NEEDING TO BE RIGHT!!!!(tm) instead of being like "Hey, I don't need my thing to be canon. I can just enjoy my make-believe by myself and be chill."
It's the worst ship war because it co-ops serious issues and uses them to make other people stop having the Wrong Make Believe.
