It's funny because Legend of the Blue Wolves is the only Yaoi Anime porn that could be even called "Bara" as well. Damn shame they only produced one episode since it seemed they had more than that initially planned.

But aside from that in the 80's, and Sensitive Pornograph in the early 00's. The only other Yaoi anime porn has been the shotatraps.

It's interesting how I think Yaoi Manga/Doujin has increased exponentially over time. But Y-Anime and Games (developed/produced by larger studios) has pretty much gone off a cliff. I wonder how much of that though is because of Japan's economic troubles.

I don't think those issues are as common in, for example, english yaoi fanfiction, which is going to have more authors from western cultures than yaoi manga does. That is, I don't think the fujos that Tumblr complains about are the same ones causing the crapheap that is most yaoi.

p much all actual homophobia comes out of abrahamic religions, which is why japan is not really homophobic but south korea (an overwhelmingly christian country) actually is

japan just doesn't think that anything that does not involve "creating a family" in the sense of marrying and having children is good, regardless of whether it's homosexuality, asexuality, mental health issues, etc etc etc. all of these things run counter to their family values so they silently denounce them, but they have not singled out gay people in any way as somehow "worse" than any of the other groups of people who are not raising children

as a gay man i would much rather live in japan over the overwhelming majority of majority-christian countries

Just because the reason for homophobia and the way the that homophobia express itself in japan is different then most western country doesn't mean that it isn't homophobia.

Legally can't "have" children. Even if you go through a surrogacy program, they won't recognize both members of a same-sex couple as the parents, only the sperm donor and the surrogate. Adoption is also a bit weird. There's also age restrictions on the age of a child a same-sex couple can adopt (must be at least 6 years old IIRC) so adopting a baby is also a no go.

Went and checked the age limit, a child has to be /under/ the age of 6 in order to be adopted, so babies are fine, but only one member of the couple will be legally recognized as the parent.
