I get the feeling all those rabid Ramsay/Theon fangirls overrunning the gay part of ASOIAF fandom are just not very intelligent and sophisticated, probably teenage people who still get off to trashy and old-fashioned 'rapey' yaoi. They just don't have enough imagination to find anything besides the cliched 'sadistic seme/suffering uke' dynamic appealing. Or prehaps they just feel intimidated by more nuanced romance and a possibility for a good end because it reminds them of their 'no bf' feels, or come from an abusive household. Can't find any other reasons why someone would fixate on a one-dimensional edgemaster like Ramsay torturing some likewise not too deep retard who absolutely made their own bed (I for one have zero sympathy for Theon, and sympathy for villains is my biggest guilty pleasure) and ignore all the more intriguing characters out there.
Several years ago I started to write a maxi fic about Stannis & Renly's youth and Loras, something like a bittersweet prequel story, but then I thought I'm probably the only one who cares for them and quit (Yes, pretty autistic on my part, but this fic was shit and I don't miss it. The one about Stan, Robert, Rhaegar and Oberyn that I lost in some hard drive crash though... ;_;). 'The character assassination of Loras, Renly and Stannis by the cowards D&D' didn't help things. Also kinda lost interest for this fandom in general after all that. Liked last year's season so little I didn't even bother watching the new one. But now this thread reminded me of the good ol' times and all these feels. Wish I had more to contribute than salty rants, but looks like I only have sfw stuff. Well, here's about the only good Renly and Loras pic I know which is also somewhat lewd.
