For the rest, there's no real way to tell when exactly those people got into their specific franchise and some people hadn't realized they were latent 2Dsexuals as kids. Unless they're seasonal waifufags there's not inherently a huge issue with having a waifu from a relatively recent media property.
For what it's worth, I tend to assume TGfags got into it as edgy high schoolers because that's who that franchise appeals to most, so I think it's reasonable to pinpoint them in their late teens-early 20s.
