He's not meant to retcon Ike's sexuality because even though Ike's sexuality is left intentionally ambiguous (not necessarily yaoi bait, more "it's up to the viewer") IS couldn't give less of a fuck whether or not fans think Ike is gay. And when you delve into the specifics, it's very plausible that Priam is not actually his descendant, or that he's Mist's descendant, as the game never actually confirms his lineage (more intentional ambiguity).
