In terms of Kickstarters, this actually has gone well for me compared to the dozen others I've backed. Games generally have a pretty hideous record of being released on time, if ever.

In terms of "a lot" of funding, I wouldn't call that a lot for 3 years of game development. There's some kickstarter spreadsheet doc that has all the Visual novels that were kickstarted. You might want to take a look at that. This is one of the handful that are actually delivering.
