Taking a wild guess based on cultural knowledge and kindergarten japanese: Haru tests Ryu, Maki, Pops and Hiroyuki with a quiz. Basically: when faced with a fork in the road, do you go into the woods, the forest or do you turn back.

Hiroshi picks the woods, Pops picks the forest, Maki picks turning back and Ryu doesn't play (I think). From this, Haru deduces that Hiroshi is a complete virgin, Pops is chaste and Maki is kinky.

If you replay the route, you get new info on the plot. For Hiroyuki, you get a scene of him masturbating to Haru from his point of view. If Hiroyuki is your first unlocked ending, then you'll get special Haru commentary during your playback plus Hiroshi's POV scene. NTY is pretty fun for that reason.

After playing all four routes I understand most of the plot except for the parts concerning Yamato/Aniki. In every route Yamato walks into sotano at one point to tell Hiroyuki that Aniki is dead but in certain routes with spoiler mode on Haru mentions being able to save him after the fact? At the end of Hiroyuki's route, Yamato is under the impression that Aniki is dead and wants to avenge him. In the true end Haru manages to stop him, in the long bad end, Haru gets to the hospital too late and Yamato's already dead but Haru gets his revenge either way (it's not revealed in game, but the settei book confirms that Tojo did indeed survive so in that end, Yamato and Haru died for nothing).

Ryu's route is the often described as the best one that should be saved for last. The other routes might feel boring after playing his if the other guys aren't your thing or if you're not into the story.

But you should buy it anyway if you have money to spare to support the BL industry and whatnot.
Who knows, Parade might even finish that OVA faster if they have more money.

His route doesn't develop all of the characters inculding secondary ones(which are as good as main four). But that qualifies as part of "story" I guess.

Ryu's route may not reveal much of the main plot, but it developed the most characters out of all the routes. The Igarashis, the Mochizukis, Yufumi, and even Narimiya in the bad end. Though I guess that doesn't really matter if someone doesn't care about the full story.

All of the routes are pretty good as standalones though imo even if you're not getting the full story. Except maybe Kouichi's, you need to play that shit twice with both spoiler modes on.

But if you're only in it for the porn with voices, my advice is to find a 100% save file of the game somewhere(I think someone posted one on /vg/) and just browse the scene replays. Or wait for the OVA like everyone else.

Inui's route is one you'll definitely want to replay to get all the spoiler scenes because there are a lot of them and they explain Haru's motivations a lot better. But tl;dr what >>2169191 said. Haru doesn't want Kouichi to go after him, so this is what he came up with (you don't find out until you go through the route again, but by the end of Kouichi's route Haru basically hasn't slept in about a week so his logic gets extra wonky by that pint)

I thought Haru still managed to pin it to someone else in that one other end? He did say about doing that in spoiler mode if I remember correctly. But I guess he didn't stop Kouichi from going through with his big revenge plan I guess and that's why he got caught.

Yeah that was the idea. I need to bug my boss about adding a few more tags at some point (it was going to have like "hardboiled" too). Part of the issue was that the game itself plays into the bait-and-switch of the early marketing in the beginning so being too overt about the later content is spoilers.

Not that spoiling the main "twist" really ruins the game or anything, but some people want to go into things fresh.

Ahhh, man... I just finished the game. I really loved it, the porn was awesome, the characters were so likable (especially Haru... best bl game MC ever), and the story was really good overall. It has become one of my favorite VNs.

The only thing that bothered me was that there's very few info about Haru in general. I know it's like that to increase all the mystery feeling, but... Mine was Pops because he seemed to bring out the most vulnerable in Haru. God, Inui's inner thoughts just killed me. When he compared Haru to kids who grab what they can, but accept with a smile if it's taken away, he "got" Haru the way the others quite didn't. Guess it's because he's a dad.

I think the really interesting thing about Kouichi's route is that both Kouichi and Haru know/understand more about each other than Haru does with most of the other characters, but at the same time they're both making quite an effort to sort of ignore the things they know/have figured out about each other.

As much as Kouichi has Haru figured out, he also really doesn't want to give much thought to the implications of what Haru really is. They're kind of both indulging in a twisted fantasy for most of the route--Haru wants to pretend he has a dad (who he also fucks sometimes because Haru doesn't understand any other kind of affection) and Kouichi gets to entertain the thought that his son might be alive, and right there with him and happy (even if making him happy means having sex with him).

Anyway, I think the route ends up feeling kind of dissatisfying because of that. The other routes kind of culminate with a big confrontation between Haru and whoever's route he's on where both parties sorta lay it all out there, but with Kouichi, they're both playing a game of pretend and while there is a violent climax to the route, they never really lay their cards out on the table. Like, even the climax is Haru putting on a show--and they both more or less understand what's going on there too, but they never address it head-on with each other. I think that's also why a lot of people don't understand the route very well.

My favorite route overall would probably be Ryu's. I love his interractions with Haru around the beginning, the coupons and how he ended up using them, the sibling theme throughout the route, it's a really nice and well written route imo. Even if I felt that Ryu didn't feel any kind of attraction to Haru by the end of it.

Character wise, my favorite's Maki. I love his backstory about Hachi, how he knew Haru was an assassin from the start but instead of confronting him about it he just decided to bring him along for dangerous missions because "while you're here, might as well", his general laziness, and how he teases Haru once in a while like when Haru said he hated him or when he refused to tell him where to buy the Bean Daifuku. He's just a reallly fun character to talk about, next to Haru.

I liked Kouichi's route the most.
Others are good, but for my tastes Hiroyuki is too nice and plain, and Haru's relationships with Ryu or Maki felt very one-sided for the most part. Kouichi's funny, fatherly, but has his secrets like Haru, so they were kinda on par(although Maki should closer to Haru personality-wise). His route is also most related to the main plot.
Also sudden moe development of Kazuki was great, he's my favorite character.
The ending of Kouichi's route also feels like the true ending of this game to me (like Haru's last line).

It's a Ryu POV scene that unlocks after finishing the route once. It's when they're getting ready for the festival and he takes her into the bedroom to dress her. Yufumi tries to weirdly proposition him (not really understanding what she's saying) and this is when Ryu realizes she's not safe in the orphanage.

I'm going to sound like a huge sap, but Hiroyuki's route was my favorite because I feel like that was the only route where the love interest truly fell in love with Haru.

It was also interesting to see Haru's reaction to this. If we're going with the good end in Hiroyuki's route, Haru left when Hiroyuki basically made his confession either because Haru knew he couldn't stay around any longer or because this was the first time he had actually felt genuine affection for another person that wasn't just placed in sex.

I really love all of the routes though. I love Hirokyuki's for the "romance-y" aspect of it, Kouichi and Ryu's for the plot, and Maki's for... Maki, tbh.

I think Haru the reason can't return Hiroyuki's "I love you" for the true end becomes pretty obvious in the bad end branch where he does do it. With most of the routes, I feel like there's a point where Haru's faced with becoming too attached to his life there and sort of forgetting/ignoring the reality of his situation, and that's just what that choice was. In both Hiroyuki and Ryu's early ends, Haru dies doing something reckless and "heroic". Maybe if you tie it back to the chapter 0 monologue, those are moments when Haru has found something he realizes he values more than his own life (though, then again, maybe that fits better with the final NTY in the true ends when he opts not to kill his love interest).

But yeah, I think Hiroyuki's the only one who fell romantically in love with Haru, but I think the neat thing about the game is that each of the characters ends up loving (or at minimum caring) about Haru in a different way. I think even Ryu genuinely cares for Haru by the end of his route, even if somewhat begrudgingly (the gift of the dust cloth said a lot imo).

I like kouichi's route most. His route is pretty entertaining and aside from the (really hot) ending scene I can see across all povs how Haru cares about the ossan even in other routes. I like maki's end but the rest of his bed scenes are pretty...boring. My fav scenes includes the one where kouichi was unsettled at the end of the igarashi brothers where haru hugged the ossan and the 2 bad endings of hiroyuki and ryu. Their bad endings brought up all the right feels and even though i loved kouichus route the most.

That's why the Inui route was the most fascinating to me, despite it feeling so unresolved.

Still, I loved the other routes. Hiroyuki's was kinda boring, but he was such a cockslut, it was all in good fun. Maki had all the sizzling chemistry. Ryu's was tragic and uncomfortable until the end, but had the most satisfying ending, tied with Maki's.

But after playing the game, I can't stop thinking of Inui's route. Guess I agree with >>2170953. His felt like the "true ending" because it's the only one where the LI chooses to pursue Haru--maybe not romantically, but to save the poor kid.

It's funny how in all the other routes, Haru dies in one of the bad endings with no regrets. But Pops's endings just involve... screwing Pops over. Even the "happy" one.

No idea what that's supposed to imply.

And I don't know if I'm the only one who got this, but Inui's Bad Ending 1 and the Other Ending were the same. The really fucking disturbing one. It tops my list of squick for this game. Ryu's sister is a close second.

No, I don't think so. Lots of goodies hidden in the settings though.
I like that enabling hint mode lets you see Haru's thoughts on the NTY button

I just checked all the scenes and I saw that I missed some lines of an avoided sex scene of Kouichi, but the game's still at 99%... I really don't know what I'm missing. Anyone got it at 100%?
