>>2159785If you look at it from an industry point of view, sequels (such as HTTYD2) will always have a harder time because your average Oscar voter will purely see it as a sequel, and rarely give it credit for its weight as a story that would, at the same time, appeal to a wider audience. Whereas a film such as BH6 has supposed merit for being its own unique film, when was the last time a film with '2' in the title got an Oscar?
It's shitty on behalf of HTTYD2, because it was great, especially as a sequel, and would've deserved the Oscar. But BH6 was just as good. Personally, I'd be happy either way, I love them both.
