It's not a deep-cut, but my favorite pure smut fic is "Dirty" by FayJay on AO3 (the prequel "Clean" is also decent, but extremely short). "A Tithe To Hell" is also an old fandom classic I think holds up really well. It's moved from LJ to
FF.net to AO3, and it's been one of the most popular DN fics on every website that's hosted it (it looks like it's currently restricted on AO3, so you need an account to view it). Both of these are Light/L, and play on the idea that L is fetishizing his own murder.
My favorite DN longfic is called "Coexistence is Boredom" by Sakurazukamori6. I think the explicit scenes are really well done here too, but I just love the fic all around and highly recommend it. Unfortunately, it only exists on
FF.net, and it was never finished, though it was pretty close to wrapped up when it got abandoned so I don't think it suffers too much from it. This one is mostly L/Light, with some switching.
You can also find some gems in the old DN kinkmeme, although it's hell to navigate. It's mostly drabble-length fills of varying quality, but people forget that these things existed for old fandoms.
