>>14429155Sure, alternatively you can just pick two arbitrary focii in the plane, and draw the locus of all points with constant summed distance to the focii (i.e. for any point on the ellipse, the distance to focus 1 plus the distance to focus 2 is a constant). You can do this with two thumbtacks and a piece of string. The center of your ellipse is halfway between the focii and oriented along the line that passes through them. Now you translate this into something a computer can understand.
