There are 2 types of looks in sports, model tier or average joe.
When you find a sportsman that has chad features, you can safely bet that this guy comes from a well off family(usually they choose high society sports like tennis, golf, etc). That family can secure the resources that the individual needs to develope his skills without focusing in anything else.
Then with the Halo effect the treatment from everyone is better, their coaches prioritize them, girls love them, everyone looks at them like promises. This ends up becoming a self-fulfilled profecy after their first success, and becomes a loop.
Average joe's ( on looks) like messi, maradona, most boxers, normally come from low class families and they are just RAW AND GIFTED BAGS OF TALENT. They are just too good to be ignored.
