I personally think that you need some matter to be conscious. After your current brain dies you'll be gone for trillions of years. Eventually there'll be a Boltzmann brain that you just happen to find yourself in because it matches your mind's pattern, or heat death will end in some new big bang and you'll wake up in the new universe. But if you're not conscious you don't experience anything, so from your perspective you wake up right away.
