>>14419458I'm just going to post this in an attempt to educate some of you since it seems like very few here has any understanding of IQ.
IQ is interesting because it correlates strongly with almost everything people see as intelligence.
Want to see how adept someone is at Math? IQ is an excellent INDICATOR of that.
Want to see how healthy someone is? IQ is an excellent INDICATOR of that.
Want to see how adept someone is at retaining and understanding complex concepts? IQ is an excellent INDICATOR of that.
Want to see how adept someone is at social interactions, being a leader, understanding people etc.? IQ is an excellent INDICATOR of that, regardless of what TV garbage you've taken as truth.
Want a source? Find one yourself. Just search IQ on Arxiv, google scholar or whatever alternative you have access to that you deem suitable. You'll find hundreds of papers saying these things.
So, let's say you're a company that wants to hire someone. If you do an IQ test, which is cheap and easy, the most likely outcome of any high performer is that they will not only be smart regardless of what definition you have and socially adept.
Or lets say you want to get some good friends, guess what, relationships tends to be better between high IQ people, regardless of what your definition of a good relationship is.
But, its just THE BEST INDICATOR of these things (after wealth). Most IQ people will suck at some things, but the whole point is that they are less likely to be bad at almost anything.
Now this is all obvious, so I'm guessing this is a meme on SCI since I'm new here?
