I got a science degree without the meds because when I couldn't sustain focus I took a break focusing on something tangential to the topic of interest whilst providing a modicum of distraction, say, by going the gym, running, listening to pods or material tangential to the topic, or going on a walk, or getting something to eat. Building a schedule of things to do also, by for example, joining a club, or organization, or a job, for me is was the pre-med club, the campus bike shop, and as a lab aide. You should set up your schedule so you don't end up with a block of 4 hours with a single subject of study in a single place at a certain time. Spend some time day dreaming every day and be interested in what is going on around you not necessarily related to what you are into but to get a sense of the diversity of lives and people and what is happening around you.
