The universe is a static object that's being processed and displayed by an external mechanism in much the same way that an optical disc is processed by a computer. Time isn't an inherent part of the universe, and your conscious experience of it doesn't happen "inside" the universe either. You are both an observer and part of the display.

time is a measurement for a rate of change so for humans it proves useful because we see the world in a linear fashion however as far as the Universe and reality goes it doesnt really matter because everything is eternal and cyclical

Yeah that's how I figured as well. It kind of seems like a social construct that exists in our minds but not elsewhere. Cells literally fall apart and it causes us to look old. Everything is happening in real time. The past doesn't really exist nor does the future. Only the now. Seems weird.

It can be argued that it doesn't correlate with the understanding of what time is, because relativity could only ascribe the term past to a mathemathical difference in the presence, but string theory could change it too bringing that overlapping particles mirage.
