That's how bases work. 10 is 10 in base 10. 2 is 10 in base 2. 3 is 10 in base 3. Etc. Let's sketch a proof of this.

>1, 10
>Base 3

because if pi is 10 in base pi

then pi in base pi / 10 should be 10 times pi... right?

so convert 10 to base pi which is... something like 3.3pi

and multiply that by pi in base pi which is 10

and the answer should be... 33*pi?

cardinality - number of nonzero elements
pi is the cardinality of a base pi numeral system: ( 1,2,3 )_pi :: pi, 2pi, 3pi etc

1/10 is the multiplicative inverse of 10

so 1 is just a unit of any number system, a base 1 system is equivalent to the count of objects

What pattern are you seeing? Keep in mind that due to the value of e, the number of symbols is limited to 0, 1, 2, and e. You're unlikely to ever exactly hit e, so you end up seeing 0, 1, and 2 over and over again. Your brain is used to seeing all base 10 symbols so this sets off the pattern detection part of your brain, which thinks there is a pattern even if one doesn't actually exist.
