I was watching this TV series called "Numbers" on my mom's smart TV and it was the episode about equations. It Said that cubic equations have no real world applications nor do any types of equations past quadratic equations. I think it is called "degree" right? Degree of equations? Is that true? Do cubic, quartile, and quintic equations and beyond really have no real world applications?

Nah, they're used all the time. In fact, they're more practical to use than many more complex functions because polynomials are so nice and have so many nice computational properties.

Look into Bezier Curves, cubic interpolation (higher interpolations too for more smoothness), polynomial regression and you'll see the higher order equations pop up endlessly.

Polynomials up to degree four have been known to
have applications from linear programming, to
physics, finance and cryptography. Polynomial
interpolation of curves (Bezier, Lagrange, etc)
can easily go beyond quintic equations in cases.

Perhaps in the realm of number theory, with
generating polynomials for instance, and
Euler's product of the zeta function, there have
been no demonstrable real life applications as
far as I know. Maybe you, OP, can make it happen.

You can't. Thanks to the efforts of Évariste Galois
and other related developments, there are no
real number solutions when solving polynomials
of degree five or higher (generally speaking).
And the polynomials of quintic level or higher
are meant for interpolation (a curve through
plotted data points) and may not be solvable.

On the other hand, you can easily solve
something like this:

(x-1)(x-2)(x-3)(x-4)(x-5)=0

or any polynomial that can be figured out via the
rational root theorem. And that's a fine line.

Out of curiosity, do you remember that particular
episode or season of NUMB3RS?

Completely and utterly wrong.
Galois proved they are not solvable by radicals in general. This is not at all saying they do not have a real root. Also, you can still solve the quintic through other methods. For example, the Bring radical, which uses the theory of elliptic functions.
Please fuck off and go back to lurking until you've read a book or two.

I use piecewise polynomials to have a practically continuous representation of sound signals. Depending on the span of each polynomial segment the degree is 7 to 18. I think that's useful, beats doing windowed sinc interpolation.
