As we approach lightspeed and time slows down doesn't that imply at lightspeed time would stop? And if exceeded would go backwards due to being inversely proportional?

Yes you have it correct another interesting thing you migh want to learn about next is Lorentz contraction. It also seems as you approach the speed of light things become flatter and flatter as well. My opinion is that the universe is actually 1 dimensional and spacetime is not fundamental.
