Are there any sleeping pills that aren't anticholinergic? So no antihistamines, no tricyclic antidepressants, no benzos, no z drugs. It has to work too so no melatonin or 5-htp. Anything at all?

god damn those things are shitty, i would have the guys who made it go to jail. They just invented it and unleashed it upon the population for a quick buck without care for the consequences.
Yes, they aren-t frequent, but they are common enough, betwen 1 to 5% can cause severe sleepwalking, like insane, people become freak zombies, get up and drive do scary shit, get in fist fights, abuse women, i cant even begin to describe how scary it is to wake up like nothng happened and have someone explain to you that yesterday you woke up in the middle of the night and tried to beat up your teenage son. DONT DO Z DRUGS JUST DONT, NORMAL BENZOS HAVE UNIRONICALLY LESS SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS

Take exactly 0.3mg of liquid melatonin, leave it under your tongue for a few minutes, like 3 minutes maximum. Mit figured out that 0.3 mg of liquid melatonin is the most effective dose.

Trazodone is specifically used in old people for its minimal anticholinergic effects. I thought it worked pretty damn well for me, didn't have the same effect as antihistamines. Just made my overactive brain slow down and "ready for bed."

I also sleep better on 15 mg than 7.5 mg despite getting more of a stuffed nose on 7.5 mg (not enough to disturb my sleep) which means that 7.5 mg has a stronger antihistamine activity, right? When taking 15 mg, I will sometimes experience a kind of stress or restlessness about 2 hours after taking it, but it passes quickly. That is due to it being more noradrenergic, but if so, why do I sleep better on 15 mg?

That's what I'm prescribed for sleep too. It feels like a powering down when I take it, and works as quickly as 10-15 mins. It's unpredictable though, and there has been a tine every now and then where it doesn't work at all. It's an antihistamine though.
Still recommending the valerian.

Id be dubious of any claims about a drug directly causing dementia. Its way more likely that you're already predisposed or have a brain chemistry such that certain chemical interactions damage your brain permanently. Its not going to be so wide as anti-cholinergics, it'd be specific ones that you'd be susceptible to.

If there is a study that can link antihistamines and benzos to a common mechanism of dementia then I'd like to read it.
