which percentage of people is actually useful in regard to the advancement of the human race?

How would /sci/ divide the masses into these groups

The vast majority are probably "sort of useful" in the sense of being able to do manual tasks and jobs to keep society functioning. Even if you have useful people inventing things, you need laborers to put those inventions into action. I'd guesstimate maybe 60% fall into this category.
30% are indifferent, mostly just living for the sake of living and having no useful skills even in terms of laboring (consider obese and disabled people).
5% to useful, as in those directly trying to progress the human race and humanitarians.
Remaining 5% to harmful, these are the rich people manipulating masses to do harm, as well as those actively fighting against the human race, warlords, serial killers, societal leeches, etc.

Gonna be bold with this one and say 40% - these are people who work on essential services necessary for society to function and the largest factor in this is I'm including everyone around the globe working in commercial agriculture.

Maybe 35% for important but not immediately essential jobs that are either, nice to have in society and keep the economy flowing or even help create foundation for societal advancements to be made (e.g. research).

15% for people with less important jobs, most homeless, and subsistence farmers, pastoralists etc. who don't really participate in societies at large

About 10% for societal leeches, criminals, malicious corporations, governments (including several politicians) and belligerent organizations like ISIS or cartels
