sleeping a hour each day, I'm on passive mode but get much science done per day.

Please get some fucking rest anon. You can only pull this off for a couple of days before your brain gives way to damage. Especially if you're not used to it. Cats can only do this because they gradually acclimate to stress hunting sometimes. It is the mammalian equivalent of going super saiyan and it's very very dangerous. Stay alive.
Drink warm milk.
Sleep.
Then you can try up again.

You don't really need that much sleep. The more you spend time being awake the more your body adjusts and starts giving you more concentrated and less voluntary doses of sleep-like brain activity.
If you stay awake long enough you can start to notice your dreams coming on while you're still up and doing things in the real world. Sleep deprivation makes thought a lot more visual if you're normally more of a verbal thinker, kind of for the same reason.
Only way you're really in danger from sleep deprivation is if it's being forced in an absolute way with meth or something. Then your risk for heart or brain problems will skyrocket. But if you're just awake of your own volition your body will sort it out with concentrated shots of instant deep sleep.
