It would only get confused if it got added later on but young brains could easily make up a sense even one that doesn't exist anywhere in other animals like say you could have an implant that measures which direction a star is at all times and then inputs that into your brain using a group of electrodes.
Seeing more colors isn't really particularly useful though, it's already easy enough to see them when it's required with machines. You wouldn't use your eyes to measure how hot something is even if you could see infrared and theoretically had the ability. Far more interesting application is giving blind people vision or deaf hearing or just slapping some new sense like echo location or something.
