It points out a question: Where does the effect of the superposition end and macrophysics begin? (aka, at what level does quantum physics give way to relativistic physics). The point is that you have a cat in a box you can't observe, and it has a chain of links back to a quantum phenomenon in superposition (the radioactive decay + the sensor to release the poison). If you link a large object to a superposition state, does the large object now also exist in superposition? If not, when does the chain break?
We've done work since then to show some of the answer, but we can, theoretically, put a macro object the size of a cat (or human!) into a quantum superposition. What does the conscious experience in such a state?
