Foundation: Logic
Applications: Quantitative and Qualitative Reasoning
Bodies of knowledge: First principles of chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics.
Now you know what is and what is true; what is a lie; no one needs to hold your hand or tell you anything. It is not enough, though. You need humanities: history, art, and philosophy
You build your intellect from a foundation- if you don't have the fundamental skills, you will evolve a brain system that doesn't really understand anything and cannot reliably be used to sort fact from fiction (it attempts to splice in bad ideas and nonfacts in its endless narrative reconstruction and post-hoc ideation.)
Note that, although most people cannot think properly, this is no barrier to biological or social life processes. Indeed, in many less developed places in the world, most people are without an intellectual foundation, because education is poor, nonexistent, or actively misinformed on top of being unable to sort fact from fiction, as with state propaganda or any religious doctrine.
Warning: People who cannot think properly cannot also will inevitably become evil and do evil things, since morality is downstream from reason. You invite evil into your life to subject yourself to irrationals. It is a fact most people are irrational. Governments that explicity endorse religion and irrationality create societies that are unstable and chaotic and full of oppression.
Science has not served itself to deliver the power of the atom into the hands of evil people, but it has. The world hangs by a thread and the vast majority of people who believe in apocalyptic fantasies wouldn't mind having them come true.
