neural interfaces are currently shit, so interfacing limbs will be shit for the foreseeable future. Getting tactile sensors as good as fingers which are compact enough to fit in fingers is decades away. Not to mention the difficulties of making durable and powerful hands/arms. Robot arms do not have a very good strength to weight ratio. Because hands are so fucking complex and compact it's difficult to make something that's reliable.

mechanically, we're already there, but in terms of information density we're not even close - skin and neurons are capable of absolutely ridiculous information densities and neural interfaces have not yet approached these (i'm not even sure the sensor density of sensory neurons can be achieved with current levels of sensor miniaturization
