Always sounded to me like a completely retarded way of explaining origin of life on earth. Ok, life originated on Mars or a comet or w/e. How did it originate there? The "explanation" does nothing but shift the goalposts to make it even more unanswerable.

How is it more likely to have occurred on some cold barren comet that goes to the edge of the solar system every 500 years? At least the sun shines here constantly.

Life didn't come on a rock from Mars... it came on the wind from VENUS!
Venus was warmer and chemical reactions take place easier and faster with increasing temperatures so likely life got going there BEFORE it would on Earth.

Miller Urey experiment and follow up experiments have shown that all amino acids and nucleotide bases could easily form and be sustained in the conditions found on the young Earth. Not particularly speculative. Those bases did not have to immediately combine into self-replicating RNA strands either so little to no exceptionally rare events had to occur simultaneously for abiogenesis to be plausible

Seems Mars had liquid and non-boiling water before Earth, so life on Mars would have had a head start on Earth.
If this was the case, life as bacteria would survive an impact powerful enough to launch a piece of rock into space and then land on Earth.
