Someone said to me that physics is the only subject that will teach you first principles so now I'm interested to learn. Which physics book do you deem as indispensable?

A handful, but one that stuck with me and which I think is also really useful for advanced beginners is "E. T. Jaynes: Papers on Probability, Statistics and Statistical Physics". Imo it's an indispensable supplement to any ordinary course on statistical physics.

The best example I can think of is the ancient Greek mathematician Euclid’s Geometry. The whole collection of hundreds of theorems comes from just five “first principles” or axioms.

They're good lectures but I wouldnt suggest lectures to learn something especially for STEM subjects
